    LAHORE:  The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing has launched  two journalists it arrested earlier within the day, Amir Mir and Imran Shafqat, after they signed a private bond.

    However, the 2  have been booked for allegedly “defaming honorable judges, Pakistan Army, and disrespecting women”,  FIA official mentioned. 

    According to the primary info report registered towards the journalists,  the 2 have been charged underneath Sections 469 (forgery for function of harming popularity), 500 (punishment for defamation), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 509 (phrase, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a lady) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

    Sources throughout the FIA advised Geo News that the journalists have offered written responses to the fees towards them.

    According to Mir’s assertion, he denies all allegations levelled towards him, saying that his struggles as a journalist are geared toward defending the pursuits of Pakistan.

    “The allegation of working against the interest of Pakistan is baseless,” claimed Mir in his assertion.

    Similarly, Shafqat additionally rubbished the allegations towards him, terming them “false and baseless”. 

    The FIA spokesman mentioned  that the journalists have been launched on bail however investigations towards them are nonetheless underway.

    He mentioned that two channels being run by the journalists broadcast messages and programmes “aimed at weakening the nation’s trust in state institutions”.

    The FIA will submit a case challan after amassing extra proof towards the journalists, he added.

    The FIA’s cybercrime wing had taken Mir and Shafqat into custody earlier within the day however on the time it was not clear what they’d been charged with.
